What is SOLV?

SOLV is a fresh approach to delivering virtual desktops and applications from the cloud. Our turn-key solution unites user data, company shared files, and applications within a desktop environment to deliver your business-essential IT all from one easy-to-use service. With SOLV, businesses have direct control over deploying and customizing virtual desktops — administrators can instantly provision desktops without infrastructure, application hosting, complex licensing, or ongoing maintenance. We make managing your IT easy so you can focus on your business, not your IT.

SOLV delivers businesses an integrated platform that provides essential business IT at lightning-fast speeds, all from the cloud. SOLV is simple to use and manage – a business can have an entire office’s worth of IT up and running in minutes.

Also known as hosted desktops or desktop as a service, virtual desktops provide end users with the same functionality as installed operating systems, only virtual desktops aren’t tethered to a single device. With SOLV, your virtual Windows desktop, which provides a fully-functional Windows 7 like experience, can be accessed anywhere from any connected device.

We make this easy. Access your desktop from any device using the SOLV application for your Mac, Windows-based computer, iOS (iPhone, iPad, etc.) or an Android device. Or, if you’re on a borrowed machine, log in via any HTML 5-enabled browser.

Each virtual desktop is customizable. Add software like Microsoft Office and essential applications like Skype for a desktop that meets your user’s needs.

The SOLV platform provides two types of storage: company shared storage and individual sync storage.

  • COMPANY SHARE: Accessed from your virtual desktop, the company share is your business’ networked shared drive. Store shared files like logos, presentations, and reports, with everyone on your network, or set permissions so only specified users can see or edit files.
  • INDIVIDUAL SYNC: Each SOLV virtual desktop comes with individual cloud storage. Synchronize your local storage to the cloud and access your files from any device.

Add software and applications to your desktop when you need them. From our apps store, choose the software you would like to add to your virtual desktop and it’s available immediately. No long wait for installations or worries about licensing. Just select, add, and get to work.

Choose from more than 40 software applications and suites including essentials like Microsoft Office Professional or Standard, Visio, and Project, and free business tools like Skype, Evernote, and Yammer.

The SOLV control panel lets administrators add new users and provision applications on the fly. It’s quick and easy to use — adding a new user complete with a virtual Windows desktop, storage, network access, and an array of software takes just minutes.

Administrators can also use the panel to monitor network use, set company shared storage permissions, and allocate additional individual storage.

One of the best things about virtual desktops? They’re not tied to a single device. With a virtual desktop from SOLV, we’ve taken this a step further – you can access your applications, your data, and your desktop environment form nearly any computer, smartphone, tablet, or netbook.

For a lightning-fast virtual desktop experience, we recommend installing our app (available for Windows and Apple computers, iOS (iPad, iPod, etc) and Android devices.

For access on any other device, simply log in to your SOLV account from any HTML 5-enabled browser. From there, you can manage and share your individual files and launch your virtual desktop with your software and files for a complete Windows 7 experience in your browser.

Is the cloud secure? Is BYOD a security threat? We know security is extremely important to you and your business. We all use the cloud every day for our vital tasks — bank accounts, money transfers and customer data – and every time we process a transaction or add another customer to the list we’re transmitting across the cloud.

With SOLV, every transaction is actively protected against viruses, malware, and security breaches. We use an array of security systems including encryption, firewalls, and big burly security guards (at our data centers) to keep you and your information safe.

SOLV uses on-the-move-data encryption, meaning we’re protecting your data and information when you’re logged in to SOLV, syncing data. That data synchronization is done exclusively over secure channels using controlled system administrator accounts and passive storage pods so not only is your data safe, it’s also mirrored in case of corruption.

Because we’re never satisfied, we conduct regular penetration tests to make sure we’re proactively protecting against known and emerging threats. We have state-of-the-art intrusion detection and firewalling on all systems.
