VMware AirWatch Is First UEM to Manage Chromebooks
Google and VMware today announced an expanded collaboration to help organizations manage, secure and enable Chrome devices with VMware Workspace ONE powered by VMware AirWatch unified endpoint management (UEM) technology. Chrome devices have seen tremendous growth in education markets, and we are excited about collaborating to bring the speed, simplicity, security and shareability of Chrome devices to the enterprise.Today, Google launched Chrome Enterprise, which combines a broad set of enterprise capabilities, including Chrome Device Management, Active Directory support, printer readiness and more. As part of this launch, Google also announced a partnership with VMware to enable AirWatch UEM technology to work with Chrome Enterprise.
Customers will be able to manage Chrome devices from the VMware Workspace ONE console alongside all other enterprise devices. This announcement builds on our previous announcement of VMware Workspace ONE and VMware Horizon support for Chrome devices, enabling enterprise application access including virtual Windows applications and desktops from a single, identity-enabled app catalog.
Today’s modern worker uses multiple form factors every day, from mobile devices to PCs and increasingly purpose-built devices and even wearables. Plus, IoT “things” continue to emerge, often managed by UEM technologies like AirWatch. Through this partnership, VMware will be the first UEM provider to manage Google Chromebooks and provide true unified endpoint management of all enterprise platforms.
