Virtualization Not Yet Ready For Mission-Critical Applications
It is premature for hosting providers to offer virtual servers and it is unlikely that virtualization will save its users money, according to survey research conducted by Rackspace Managed Hosting, a recognized leader in the global managed hosting market.
These were two major points arising from more than 300 responses to an e-mail survey of Rackspace customers, in which 87% of those who responded confirmed they would not share a server with other hosting customers.
Most of them also confirmed they believe virtualization is not ready for mission-critical applications.
“Perhaps companies that have already started offering virtual hosting have jumped the gun,” says Rackspace spokesman for the South African market, Geoff Dowell.
