Since PM migrates user specific settings and data in user profiles and shadow keys are a machine specific setting this is not the case. dt2 and sdt2 are the successors to Microsoft's well known sdt and rdt tools to read and set the date of shadow keys on a terminal server. Both new versions support 64 bit architecture and contain other improvements as well. Both tools are free to use 32 bit executables with no extra requirements.

Normally, finding the cause for high CPU utilization is easy – just start Task Manager. But what if the component consuming CPU cycles is a driver that runs in the kernel? In that case, there is no regular process Task Manager could attribute the usage to. You will see the “System Idle Process” at around 98%, but the “Performance” tab might indicate 50% CPU usage. How can that be?

With the release of Citrix User Profile Manager by Citrix the structure of the managed user profiles and the user store has changed significantly. While this remodeling was necessary to enable key features in UPM, it presents a challenge to those, who are using sepagoPROFILE and the tech preview of UPM and plan to upgrade. I will call those profiles UPM V1 profiles throughout the article, while UPM V2 profiles will denote the profiles of the official release version.

How to Prevent Users from Changing Permissions on File Servers

On file servers in corporate environments one typically does not want users to change permissions, even on their own files. It might seem that it would be sufficient to simply grant change permissions instead of full control, but unfortunately that is not the case. The problem is that whenever a new file gets created, the user creating the file will be its owner. And owners can always change permissions, regardless of the contents of the DACL.
