ThinPrint Technology on VMware Horizon View 5.2 Supports Finishing Options on Windows 8
Cortado today announced it has integrated its ThinPrint technology with the recently announced VMware® Horizon View 5.2. New important printing features include: VMware Horizon View 5.2 has the ability to support printer finishing options, such as hole punching, stapling, and binding on Windows 8, with the use of the ThinPrint Output Gateway virtual printer driver. Other features include driver-free printing, print data compression, and optimized printing for PCoIP.
“We are pleased to continue to work with our OEM partner Cortado to bring specialized printing features to VMware® Horizon View™ 5.2, a part of the VMware Horizon™ Suite,” said Mason Uyeda, director of technical marketing, End-User Computing, VMware. “By using the virtual ThinPrint driver, our customers now have a wide array of finishing options to customize their print jobs.”
“In the fifth year of our OEM partnership, we are continuing to give customers solutions for printing in virtual environments,” said Charlotte Künzell, CIO of Cortado AG. “The beneficiaries of our cooperation are that customers can realize the advantages of desktop virtualization, while enabling them to keep driver management costs low.”
In large installations that require a central print server, VMware customers can upgrade to the ThinPrint Server Engine. A free trial version can be downloaded at www.thinprint.com/thinprint-se.
