Symantec Among the First to Achieve VMware Ready Data Protection Status for VMware vSphere 4

Backup Exec and NetBackup speed the backup and recovery of informationstored on virtual machines. Symantec’s patent-pending Granular RecoveryTechnology enables Backup Exec and NetBackup to leverage a single passimage backup of the entire guest virtual machine in order to store backupinformation once and recover anything — including the entire virtualmachine, individual virtual disk files, as well as individual files andfolders inside virtual disk files. This unique capability results in up toa 50 percent reduction in the backup storage required for VMwareenvironments and additional savings can be derived by leveraging Symantec’sdeduplication technology, currently in NetBackup and scheduled to beavailable in Backup Exec later this year. In a recent independent performancetest, Backup Exec and NetBackup delivered superior backup and recoverywithin virtual environments than other vendors.
