Out of the blue we started to receive erroneous Enterprise Manager Oracle VM Server, Oracle VM Server Pool, and virtual machine down and up alerts and notifications, as well as Oracle VM Manager reporting that virtual machines were Stopped when the virtual machines were actually running. We determined that the root cause was a corrupt dom0 RPM database that cased the ovs-agent to generate XML/RPC timeouts. The XML/RPC timeouts were captured in the Oracle VM Manager AdminServer.log file as "XML/RPC timeout – Unexpectedly lost contact with Server: ovs-prodebs01".
