Sanbolic SDS Platform Feature Highlights: Latency Targeted Allocator
This article is part of a series of articles highlighting the extensive features and capabilities of Sanbolic’s Software-Defined Storage (SDS) platform.
About LTA (Latency Targeted Allocator)
The LTA feature allows users to mix different types of block storage into the same logical volume sets, for instance SSD & traditional spinning disk. If the block storage devices used in the volume set have a great enough difference in latency (which would be the case when mixing flash and spinning disk) the Melio platform will automatically create a low latency pool of storage within that volume set for metadata and rule driven placement of user data. The rule driven placement of data allows users to create policies by targeting specific data sets, file types or locations within the volume to be placed on the low latency pool of storage.
