PubForum 2010 Day 2
7The second day of PubForum started with a session by Rene Vester and Jacob Berg with the title Supporting Macs and iPhones in your corporate infrastructure. The session started with an overview of the developments within Citrix for supporting Apple products. The next topic was Snow Leopard (Macbook, iMac and so on), showing how the Citrix Receiver can be used on these systems in combination with Merchandising Server. Also the online plug-in is mentioned and explaining the Citrix Receiver with the plug-ins. Next Dazzle was shown in combination with the Citrix Receiver for Mac. You only get one application icon on the Mac, because of session sharing. That’s makes it a bit difficult to switch between the Citrix hosted applications. Also there is no connection center available. All settings are stored in a config file, the settings can be changed editing this config file (so you can create a base for the users). Rene continued with explaining the Merchandising server (virtual appliance). After the merchandising server the iPhone was the next topic. Rene mentions the XenApp Gadgets, offering the possibility to look apps mobile device friendly. Jacob continued with showing the configuration of the Citrix Receiver of the iPhone (mobile receiver setup URL generator). This brings us to two factor authentication mentioning how SMS Passcode integrates with the iPhone Receiver. Next the support of the Mac User using Go2Assist, GoToMyPC and GoToMeeting was shown. Logically also the iPad was mentioned and that the Citrix parts (Citrix Receiver and GoToMeeting) are in the top download list.
