San Francisco, CA Saturday, May 19th, 2012

Finding the ideal size and number of Oracle VM Servers may appear like a daunting task. Right sized Oracle VM Servers are the foundation of a cost effective, high performance successful Oracle VM implementation. There are many considerations to calculate the ideal size and number of Oracle VM Servers such as aggregate virtual machine CPU, memory, storage and networking requirements, along with high availability requirements. Admittedly, not all users know how to right size their Oracle VM Servers.

Most companies, especially those which are not that familiar with Oracle VM, over-invest in hardware, leaving little or no budget for training and services. Indeed, technology comes at a cost. But not all the time. Technological help can also come for free, such as the Oracle VM for x86 Server Sizing Advisor.

In 2011, Mokum Solutions, Inc. released the first version of the Oracle VM for x86 Server Sizing Advisor. The Oracle VM for x86 Server Sizing Advisor is an online Oracle VM server sizing application that offers comprehensive server sizing recommendations. The Oracle VM for x86 Server Sizing Advisor was created by Mokum Solutions, Inc., a well-known consultant and integrator of Oracle technologies in private and public clouds. With Mokum, users get accurate Oracle VM Server sizing results. What is the best thing about the Oracle VM Server sizing recommendations? Well, it is absolutely free.

Oracle VM users no longer have to guess at the ideal size and number of Oracle VM servers because the Oracle VM for x86 Server Sizing Advisor does it for you in three easy steps:

1. On the first page, the user inputs the Oracle VM Server and the aggregate virtual machine resource requirements as follows:

GB of RAM for each Oracle VM Server. The value should be within the range of 1 – 2048.
CPU cores for each Oracle VM Server. The value should be within the range of 1 – 160.
Total number of virtual machines. The value should be greater than or equal to 2.
Total number of virtual machine CPUs. The value should be greater than or equal to 1.
Total amount of RAM in GB for all of the virtual machines. This value should be greater than or equal to 1.
Total amount of storage in GB for all of the virtual machines. The value should be greater than or equal to 12.

2. Next, the user will be brought to a summary review page to confirm the details entered in the previous page. On the summary review page, the user will be required to provide basic personal and corporate information.

3. Immediately after providing the basic personal and corporate information, the user will be brought to their Oracle VM Server sizing results for an HA enabled pool with the ability to lose one Oracle VM Server and still run all the virtual machines.

With these easy steps, right sizing your Oracle VM Servers is simple and quick.
