2. End-User Training

We are almost done but we still have a wee bit more to document. This time instead of presenting the documentation to the customers administrators will be presenting the documentation to the end-user community. I believe that a successful project is a project that makes the end-users more productive and happier.

To achieve this high lofted goal, I recommend engaging the end-users in a welcome / how to use end-user training. In the training you will not only teach them how to login, how to move around their new environment, how to customize the interface to suit their likes but you will show them they are part of the solution. You will show them how to take action against issues they might run into. Give them phone numbers and email accounts to contact if they have issues. I know we are not in the business of giving people free help but really we are. We are in the business of solving peoples problems if we are to be successful then we need to make sure the end-users are happy, at all costs.

I also recommend creating an end-user welcome kit. In the welcome kit we will document, in end-user terms, how to use their new systems, how to logon, how to change passwords, how to perform their day to day tasks. Write them a thank you letter; thank them for allowing you the privilege of upgrading and or deploying their solution. Remember that if the end-users perception is high then you will be coming to the completion of a successful project! Get creative with it and you will find you creativity and time pays off in the end!

The following is a sample document to end-users on how to logon to their new system:
