About this Show
In episode 102, Douglas Brown interviews Chetan Venkatesh, CEO and Founder of Atlantis Computing. Douglas and Chetan discuss the Atlantis Computing ILIO and vScaler purpose built storage for desktop virtualization solutions. Chetan explains how ILIO and vScaler works and how it solves the three main storage related problems with vitalization.
ILIO allows the dynamic synthesis of virtual machines from a single gold master image. The clones (or derivatives) are fully customizable and persistent. Subsequent updates to the gold master, automatically update the clones while retaining changes in the clones. This is a significant benefit of the ILIO approach compared to more primitive and static approaches such as linked clones and thin provisioning of virtual images. The ILIO intelligent Image synthesis and composition has been deployed in some of the largest and most diverse VDI environments in the Enterprise market (the largest at 20,000 virtual desktops). ILIO can cut storage for server and desktop virtualization by 20X (20TB to 1TB) and transform the linear complexity and cost of VM management (the cost and complexity of managing 1000vms is the same as managing one)
vScaler is the world’s first Virtualization acceleration virtual server appliance (VSA). vScaler delivers 10X improvements in storage IOPS, latency and throughput performance through a unique and patented approach to IO characterization and caching. vScaler also provides the industry's first inline active real time data deduplication for primary storage, allowing small amounts of commodity storage to be leveraged for high performance and scale server and desktop virtualization. vScaler accelerates all kinds of virtual workloads from vanilla VMs to databases, web application servers, Microsoft exchange and file and print servers.

About Chetan Venkatesh
Chetan Venkatesh is the CEO and Founder of Atlantis Computing and a 16 year 3 startup veteran in the Enterprise infrastructure space. He founded Atlantis Computing in 2006 with a view to creating a radical dynamic IO and disk virtualization technology that today is gaining rapid adoption as the best way to solve storage and performance challenges in virtualization. Atlantis Computing's Inline Image Optimization (ILIO) and vScaler products address the storage bloat and IO related performance problems endemic to virtualization projects.
