About this Show
In the following DABCC TV Virtualization Video Podcast, we are very happy to have Nick Rudnik, Director of Software Development and Mike Cardinal, the General Manager at ThinLaunch with us. Mike and Nick walk us through their ThinDesktop solution to turn any PC in to a centrally managed / locked down Thin Client. They will show us how ThinDesktop works, how to integrate Citrix, VMware View, and other Desktop virtualization / presentation virtualization solutions, plus much more.
About Thin Desktop
Thin Desktop makes it easy to turn a Windows based PC into a locked down device that restricts the user to run a single application which becomes the entire user interface. The standard Windows desktop and start menu will be prevented from appearing.
ThinLaunch includes the following features and benefits:
- Re-purpose the PC, avoiding the cost of buying a new PC or Thin Client
- Eliminate non work related computer usage, increasing end user productivity
- Simple method to lock down a PC, reducing desktop visits by support staff
- Access Vista in a VM from the current desktop, allowing for rapid testing and deployment
- Flexible implementation, simplifying desktop administration
About Nick Rudnik
Nick Rudnik is Director of Software Development for ThinLaunch Software. He has spent the last ten years inside a Fortune 1000 company doing everything from network administration to software development. Recently, Nick has focused on large scale intranet deployments, major ecommerce web sites and advancing service oriented architecture. After cofounding ThinLaunch, he has shifted focus to developing and promoting solutions around Thin Desktop, virtualization and thin client computing architecture.
About Mike Cardinal
Mike Cardinal is General Manager of ThinLaunch Software. Mike began his career at Control Data Corporation in 1979, back in the days of punch cards and mainframes! Mike’s primary focus has been on software solutions in the SMB and enterprise space both domestically and internationally. After a dozen years in the high availability space providing solution in the Tandem and Stratus Enterprise class environments, Mike most recently managed a reseller organization before joining ThinLaunch Software.
A frequent presenter, blogger and virtualization promoter, Mike is known to recite use case after use case for the Thin Desktop product. You can also hear him say repeatedly: “My early days in the mainframe arena seem very familiar in today’s virtualization space, but the old dog has had to learn a few new tricks to keep up with today’s approaches and capabilities”
When Mike isn’t talking virtualization, you can find him playing, coaching or watching hockey. He is after all, a Minnesotan, eh?
