About this Show
DABCC Radio is a podcasting show geared around Virtualization and Server-Based Computing News and Support interviews, editorials, and tips & tricks pertaining to technologies such as, Citrix, VMware, Microsoft, SoftGrid, Performance Management, application deployment and much, much more.
In episode 9 we are very excited to have Peter Bondar, CEO at Endeavors Technologies, with us to discuss their application streaming solution called AppExpress along with a very interesting discussion on their patent dispute with Microsoft, Citrix, AppStream, and others, plus an overall discussion on the application streaming and virtualization industry.
AppExpress from Endeavors allows organizations to rapidly and cost-effectively deploy and manage applications, through the Internet or across a corporate network. AppExpress utilizes application streaming to deliver an appropriate application set to each user. Its unique Application Isolation Environment (AIE) and Real-time Application Delivery (RAD) technologies enable standard applications to execute on any PC without first installing any software locally on individual PCs.
Administrators use AppExpress to publish applications to a central server. The server functions as an “application jukebox”, providing users with on-demand application access. Users choose an application which is quickly streamed to their desktop, the application then performs as if natively installed.
AppExpress reduces the time, resources and cost of deploying, upgrading and supporting applications. Organizations benefit from:
Rapid application deployment – No more running from desktop to desktop in order to deploy applications. Centrally administered software distribution allows administrators to roll out new applications, updates and patches to all users within minutes.
Centralized application management and integration – On-demand application distribution delivers applications where you want them, when you want them, for as long as you want them. AppExpress allows users to access the latest applications when needed, from any location. Applications are quickly streamed to the user eliminating the requirement to install new software; the streamed applications are cached on the local desktop. AppExpress also lets administrators configure user profiles to allow specific applications to also run when the user is offline.
Improved software license control – The AppExpress license management console allows administrators to set user and group access to appropriate applications. Once a user is finished with the application it can be deactivated, making the license available to other users. The console tracks and monitors license usage, providing valuable data for future purchase decisions.
Reduced IT support – In a traditional environment, problems with locally-installed applications often cause larger performance problems on a user’s PC, requiring a costly visit from the IT staff. Since AppExpress does not install software on the client and leaves no footprint when the application is deactivated, allowing IT staff to remotely resolve application issues.
