About this Show
In Episode 76, Douglas Brown interviews Brad Pedersen, Chief Architect and Senior Fellow, Kurt Moody, Sr. Manager Of Technical Marketing for the XenApp Product Group, and Scott Swanburg, Director - Emerging Markets At Citrix. The panel discuss Citrix's views around cloud computing, XenApp in the cloud, why Citrix thinks Cloud Computing is different than the ASP market, why they feel their solutions is better than VMware's and much more.
Doug also asks the following questions:
- There are two messages that have been coming out of Citrix for the past several months. First is all of the information from Simon Crosby about the cloud and about project independence. Last month, Mark Templeton mentioned software as a service several times during the quarterly investor call. Seems like Citrix is into everything?
- Citrix is blogging a lot lately about the use of XenApp in the cloud. We’ve seen everything from announcements about Amazon and ec2 to using XenApp for SaaS.
- In one particular blog you’ve talked about the holistic cloud computing and the spectrum of use. Is this how Citrix sees the world of cloud computing?
- There are some pretty bold statements being made by Citrix about being the only company in the world who can play well in each of the spaces you’ve defined as cloud. Do you really believe that or is it just marketing hype?
- You haven’t talked a lot about Microsoft but everyone knows they have a whole business unit that delivers applications via the hosting model. You can go on their web site and see it. So how would Citrix work with Microsoft if they are already doing this by themselves?
- You’ve mentioned this company… Nasstar a few times in your blogs. Looks like they are using a different model than your current Citrix partners.
- VMware is investing in the cloud too. How is that different than what Citrix is doing?
