ManageEngine Kick-Starts SysAdmin Day
ManageEngine, the real-time IT management company, today announced the Know Your Sysadmin campaign to set the celebratory ball rolling for the 16th annual SysAdmin Day on July 31, 2015. In honor of the occasion, ManageEngine sent researchers into data centers and NOCs across the globe to document sysadmins in their natural environs, undisturbed by business users and upper management. The campaign’s related contest, game and e-cards make the non-IT masses appreciate sysadmins even more.
The Know Your Sysadmin campaign includes:
Know Your Sysadmin video – ManageEngine researchers interviewed IT users on camera, revealing 1) just how little some of those users know about IT issues and 2) just how many users consider the office microwave an IT asset. See the video at https://www.manageengine.com/video-lounge.html.
Myth vs. Facts infographic – The result of a ManageEngine survey conducted in May 2015, this infographic distills thousands of survey responses to set the record straight. It debunks some popular sysadmin myths and confirms that others are actually true, such as their tendency to party. The infographic is available at https://pitstop.manageengine.com/sysadminday/myths-vs-facts.html.
“While some myths were predictably busted, what caught us unawares were the myths that turned out to be true!” said Vidya Vasu, head of ManageEngine Community. “Far from being detail-obsessed, the majority of sysadmins have messy desks. And the majority felt they were not thanked enough by their colleagues. The Know Your Sysadmin campaign is all about righting that wrong – the thanking part, I mean. We can’t do anything about the messy desks.”
Caption the GIFs contest – Who doesn’t love GIFs + words? Nobody, that’s who. And that’s why ManageEngine is running its Caption the GIFs contest through July 31, 2015. More than 350 syadmins have captioned GIFs so far at https://pitstop.manageengine.com/sysadminday/index.html#Contest. Ten lucky winners will each receive a $20 Amazon gift card – because one card for 10 winners would just be inconvenient.
IT-Q game – Designed to test the IT IQ of sysadmins who double as wordsmiths, IT-Q may also be played by those unfortunate souls without the swagger or technology chops to make it as sysadmins. The game is available at https://pitstop.manageengine.com/sysadminday/index.html#Game.
E-cards – Reluctant to celebrate SysAdmin Day without a sincere expression of gratitude, ManageEngine created a collection of e-cards containing heartfelt messages of thanks for sysadmins, the unsung superheroes of the organization. No joke. Over 500 e-cards were sent within days of going live, and users still have time to send their favorite sysadmins an e-card at https://pitstop.manageengine.com/sysadminday/index.html#Ecards.
