Lakeside Software’s SysTrack IPP VDI Assessment Tool Named Best of Show Finalist for New Technology at VMworld
Lakeside Software’s SysTrack Image Provisioning Planner won a Best of Show Finalist Award for New Technology at VMworld 2009 last week. The award was given by an independent team of judges consisting of experts and editors from SearchServerVirtualization.com who reviewed and evaluated more than 200 products according to innovation, value, performance, reliability, and ease of use.
SysTrack Image Provisioning Planner (IPP) is the first industry tool to automatically design and optimize desktop pools and application delivery based on real user behavior. IPP analyzes needs and commonality of needs within current communities. Users can then be grouped into optimized communities, or pools by IPP, with the appropriate assignment of needed applications to each community while also minimizing license costs. SysTrack also identifies where application virtualization technology may be used to ease administrative burdens.
Before SysTrack’s IPP tool, there was no product on the market that provided analysis and guidance on the design and implementation of desktop pools for VDI. “Pool planning is where a VDI project can get bogged down because it involves hundreds of complex interrelated variables,” states Mike Schumacher, CTO of Lakeside Software, Inc. “SysTrack IPP uses actual user behavior data coupled with a powerful mathematical model to streamline the process, and automatically recommend desktop pools based on true application usage.”
The output documentation from SysTrack Image Provisioning Planner provides a blueprint for implementation of VDI desktop pools and golden images for non-VDI environments.
“One way to accelerate adoption of VDI technology is through availability of comprehensive planning tools,” continued Schumacher. “This tool identifies compatibility issues, good and bad candidates, and integrates it with user behavior, and specific application usage to provide a comprehensive plan.”
SysTrack delivered the industry’s first VDI assessment and modeling tool in 2008. The suite offers analysis and planning for power, storage, POC and migration, network and firewall, latency and application delivery planning. With IPP, SysTrack VMP becomes the industry’s most comprehensive tool for VDI implementation.
“The VMworld award is a great honor,” concluded Schumacher. “It’s going to facilitate a lot more companies simplifying and accelerating their transition to virtual desktops with the SysTrack Tool Suite.”
