Juniper sold more SSL VPN gear by revenue in first half of 2006 – Citrix #2
Juniper sold more SSL VPN gear by revenue in the first half of this year, hanging on to the No. 1 spot from the previous year, according to a Synergy Research report on sales of security gear.
This is an interesting report as I’m constantly hearing that Citrix is #1 in the SSL VPN market. Well, they are #1 in product sold but Juniper is #1 in revenue. Why? Simply put, Juniper is picking up the bigger deals in the bigger enterprises. Although, Citrix is no slouch and they are still relatively new to this market and give them time and you might see them #1 in both categories.
The company took in 50% more revenue from SSL equipment than its nearest competitor, Citrix, the study says. Citrix was followed closely by F5.
All three are on track to significantly outstrip last year’s sales assuming they do as well in the second half of this year, with Citrix in line to have the largest increase of nearly 60%. This is speculative, but it indicates the strength of interest in SSL VPNs, which continues to grow significantly.
