Introducing Turbonomic 6.0: Cloud Storage Control

In the world of Cloud Computing there are many factors that are overlooked when migrating workloads and maintaining instances in the cloud. Storage makes up a very large part of your cloud costs and in most cases, it’s either under managed or not managed at all. While you may get by with under-managed storage on-prem, in the cloud you will feel the pain of higher bills, month after month, causing your cloud strategy to be costly or even unaffordable.

It is critical to be aware of all the factors that contribute to storage costs on-prem and things are no different in the cloud.  The type and tier of storage you need for your workloads, the amount consumed and, inevitably, wasted; these are all factors that will follow you to the cloud.

The difference between on-prem and cloud, however, is that you can over provision on storage and capacities on-prem and the costs are static because the storage that is being wasted has already been purchased. In the cloud, costs hit the bottom line, hard and fast based on the storage tiers that are chosen. Enter Turbonomic; which with the 6.0 release reduces costs and ensures performance not just for compute, but for storage as well.

With the release of Turbonomic 6.0, you will have the ability to not only see what type and how much storage you are using in the cloud, but will also be able to control it.  This will ensure performance and cost savings across your cloud estates. Turbonomic does this by leveraging our market place abstraction and real-time automation across your entire hybrid cloud environment.
