Organizations are quite rightly concerned about the security challenges that they will face when moving part or all of their business operations to the cloud. They worry about putting information into an environment that they don’t fully control, or about the best cloud deployment model for their corporate data and applications. But approached correctly, securing the cloud can be dealt with like any other transformation exercise. For this video I was able to spend a couple of minutes with Tim Grieveson, Chief Cyber and Security Strategist at HPE Security, and former CISO, to talk about some of the challenges that he has seen when talking with customers about the move to the cloud.
Tim told me that customers he speaks with are becoming more confident around moving to the cloud, but realize that one of the biggest challenges is the classification of the organizational data – what needs to be protected, and how? More and more organizations are dealing with this by following a hybrid approach to cloud – taking advantage of the elasticity of cloud where it makes sense, but keeping the corporate secrets in a company controlled data center.
