HPE OneView: the best manager and on-ramp for composable infrastructure
At this summer’s Discover event, Tech pundit Jake Ludington met with Paul Miller, VP of Marketing for HPE, to highlight the advantages of composable infrastructure, HPE Synergy and HPE OneView. In their interview, Miller delves into the real value of the composable infrastructure and discusses how the HPE OneView platform best manages HPE Synergy, HPE’s first instantiation of composable infrastructure.
In the interview, Miller explains that the real value of composable infrastructure for users comes over an application’s whole life cycle. “Unfortunately, once infrastructure is provisioned, even though it can be over provisioned for example by 50 percent, most of it stays over provisioned forever until they actually shut the application down,” he explains. HPE’s Composable Infrastructure creates fluid pools of resources that compose and re-compose according to the needs of the application. This composable feature prevents unused infrastructure from becoming static.
As a management tool, HPE OneView allows users to provision HPE Synergy faster. As Miller explains, HPE OneView provides an on-ramp to the new composable technology by letting users deploy servers, compute and storage all as one with existing DL Servers, Blade Servers and 3Par Storage. With HPE OneView acting as an on-ramp to composable infrastructure, the need for a rip-and-replace implementation cycle is eliminated.
