Ericom Observes Increased Adoption of Linux Desktops in the European Auto Industry
CLOSTER, N.J., March 28 – Ericom Software, a leading provider of Enterprise-Wide Application Access solutions, today announces that PSA Peugeot Citroen, a leading European car manufacturer, has chosen to implement Ericom’s PowerTerm application access solution as part of its enterprise Linux desktop deployment. As part of a multiyear contract with Novell, PSA Peugeot Citroen will install SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop from Novell on up to 20,000 computers.
As an enterprise-wide application access solution, Ericom’s PowerTerm provides secure access to mission-critical data and applications from Linux desktops and thin clients. PowerTerm provides access to Windows applications residing on Windows Terminal Servers and legacy applications residing on host systems — from Linux desktops. Ericom’s solution enables full Linux desktop compatibility — providing organizations with the flexibility for an agile and productive business environment. Ericom’s PowerTerm solution empowers organizations with the ability to address everyday IT challenges, such as reducing the cost of managing applications and desktops, business continuity, IT optimization, and privacy of information.
“When engaging with PSA Peugeot Citroen to establish SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop as their next-generation desktop platform, we found that Ericom’s PowerTerm has been a critical component of the overall solution,” said Roger Levy, Novell vice president and general manager of Open Platform Solutions. “In today’s heterogeneous IT environments, customers require cross-platform application and legacy system access, and Novell is pleased to work with Ericom to deliver this to our customers.”
