enStratus Announces Support for VMware vSphere
enStratus today announced that it has added support for the management of virtualized infrastructure deployments using VMware’s vSphere. With this expanded support, customers can now leverage a unified solution to manage vSphere as well as private and public cloud infrastructures.
"Enterprise IT organizations are expressing great interest in hybrid clouds. But what they really want is to blend internal and external clouds with their existing IT environments," said Paul Burns, President of Neovise, an IT industry analyst firm focused on cloud computing and IT management. "With the latest release from enStratus, enterprise IT now has an excellent bridge across all of these environments. Administrators will be far happier and more productive without independent silos to manage."
Customers can now leverage enStratus to manage and control virtualized infrastructures in a vSphere deployment including:
- Self Provisioning – Manage infrastructure such as starting and stopping instances
- Advanced User Management – Meet internal security policy requirements by defining custom roles with fine-grain permissions.
- Financial Controls – Assign users to billing codes, track cloud resource usage and control spending
- Automation – Automated scaling, recovery and backups to meet service level requirements
- Unified Cloud Management – Clients can now manage vSphere as well as major public and private clouds with one unified solution
In addition to supporting vSphere and vCloud Express from VMware, enStratus also supports leading cloud infrastructure platforms from Amazon Web Services, Eucalyptus, GoGrid, Rackspace, Cloud.com, ReliaCloud, Terremark, and Windows Azure.
"As a vSphere customer, ipHouse is excited about today’s announcement made by enStratus," said Bil MacLeslie, CEO of ipHouse, a Minneapolis-based Internet hosting and connectivity solutions. "This enStratus offering enables existing vSphere environments to leverage the advantages of cloud computing."
“VMware’s vSphere has proven to be a powerful virtualization platform and we are excited to expand their management capabilities,” said George Reese, CTO of enStratus. “Our customers continue to look for unified management capabilities for virtualized infrastructures as well as cloud platforms and we are excited about the response we are getting from the market."
