DynamicOps – VMworld 2012 – Best of Show: Hybrid Cloud Management
Enterprise Management Associates’ (EMA) 2012 awards go to companies that have clearly understood and internalized the ideas behind the software defined or programmable datacenter. The following five vendors enable customers to more efficiently take advantage of their previous, current, and future IT investments.
While the term “Software Defined Datacenter” was coined by VMware’s CTO Steve Herrod in May of 2012, the actual concept is not new. As described in EMA’s series of blogs on this topic, the Software Defined Datacenter has constituted the “holy grail” of enterprise IT since the beginnings of virtualization more than a decade ago. However, only today do enterprises have at least some of the components available to make parts of the Software Defined Datacenter a reality. EMA is pleased to provide its awards to the most innovative of these companies that all show a radical focus on customer requirements in terms of resource utilization, performance, and functionality.
DynamicOps: Hybrid Cloud Management

Before the acquisition by VMware, DynamicOps already had clearly voiced its vision of providing a unified management platform for physical and virtual resources that presents end users – developers and business users – with a cohesive business service. This vision is very similar to VMware’s definition of the Software Defined Datacenter
