Cortado to Optimize Google Cloud Printing – Releases FREE BlackBerry, iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad App
Cortado, the mobile business division of the printing specialist ThinPrint AG, plans to improve Google’s recently announced Cloud Print solution. This will enable Chrome users access to Cortado’s mobile printing functionality. The Cortado solution will enhance Google’s recently announced Cloud Print solution for Chrome by enabling users to print. Connecting to a desktop computer is not required, whether or not the printer yet supports Cloud Print’s technology. Cortado currently offers mobile printing solutions for BlackBerry smartphones, Apple’s iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and also soon for Google Android smartphones.
To print via Google Cloud Print, printers must support Google Cloud Print technology, or be connected to a PC. Cortado takes a completely different approach. With Cortado’s cloud printing solution, the user can print to any printer directly connected via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. A user therefore does not have to search for a printer that supports Google´s cloud printing solution or have access to a PC.
Cortado tackles the challenge of printer driver management in its certified hosting centers. More than 12,000 customers using the Cortado Workplace cloud printing solution can already use over 6,000 different printer drivers. Customer feedback facilitates constant updating and increased choice of drivers. Today, almost all available printers are supported.
Cortado considers Google’s new Cloud Print solution as confirming the demand for cloud printing and the company is determined to create the best possible cloud printing solution for the Google Chrome OS. Cortado’s goal is to enhance Google Cloud Print by adding the following functions:
- Spontaneous direct printing from Google Chrome OS or Android devices
- Supporting all existing printers and nearly all file types
- Expanding cloud printing support outside of Google Apps
- Offer a "Private Cloud" solution for integration into corporate IT
