Closer look at Cohesity’s DataPlatform VE
We recently announced the release of the Cohesity’s DataPlatform Virtual Edition (VE). DataPlatform VE is an implementation of Cohesity’s software-only package designed and implemented specifically for VMware vSphere infrastructures. The virtual appliance is meant to serve the same principals requirements and characteristics Cohesity’s hyperconverged physical appliances satisfy in enterprise data centers, but at in cost-effective virtualized form factor for remote and branch offices (ROBO) and Edge-based infrastructures powered by VMware.
Cohesity customers with smaller remote locations in need of data protection, retention, mobility, and file services can greatly benefit from this type of implementation. Remaining true to the core value proposition Cohesity’s Hyperconverged physical appliance delivers, DataPlatform VE provide a simple, end-to-end backup and recovery solution with full VMware vSphere integration, and consolidate your files with NFS and SMB support. Extend DataPlatform from the edge to the cloud, with geo-replication capabilities to replicate data to centralized data centers, and native cloud integration with all major public clouds.
Let’s look at some of the specific characteristics of the virtual appliance and explore some of the requirements and capabilities a bit deeper.
