Citrix XenServer Infrastructure Strategy
XenServer is the underlying infrastructure powering multiple Citrix core offerings.
Included by default with offerings such as XenApp, XenDesktop and Netscaler SDX, XenServer allows Citrix to innovate faster and reduce overall Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for our customers. XenServer is a key part of our strategy.
As noted recently, XenServer is in use by the majority of Citrix desktop virtualization customers. Why do customers choose XenServer for Citrix workloads? There are two main reasons. Firstly, by owning both the server virtualization and application virtualization layers, Citrix can deliver innovation faster to our customers.
One example of this is the ability to handle advanced 3D workloads. Citrix and NVIDIA worked together via open source collaboration create support for NIDIA GRID technology, and as a result this was available to Citrix customers years ahead of any competitor. You can check out this blog for more on how Citrix continues to push the boundaries for this use-case with XenServer.
