Citrix Voice Office Application Suite Selected by Cisco as AppsCentral Application of the Month
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nov. 7, 2005–Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that Cisco Systems, Inc. has selected Citrix(R) Voice Office, a suite of packaged, converged IP telephony applications delivered by the Citrix Application Gateway(TM), as Application of the Month for November 2005. Voice Office is featured in Cisco’s IP Communications Applications Central. Citrix is part of Cisco’s Technology Developer program. Voice Office and the Application Gateway are sold globally by Cisco’s value-added resellers.
IP Communication Application Central or AppsCentral is Cisco’s one-stop-shop portal for information and access to all of Cisco’s productivity application offerings. IP Communications encompasses IP telephony, video telephony, unified messaging and voicemail, IP video- and audio conferencing, customer contact solutions, voice gateways and applications, security solutions, and network management.
The Cisco Technology Developer Program sets criteria for interoperability testing by independent third parties and enables leading product and services firms to deploy innovative business solutions. The program provides enterprise or service provider customers with information regarding Cisco Technology Developer Partner products and services that an independent testing facility has tested and found to interoperate with Cisco networking technology.
The Citrix Voice Office application suite enables organizations to realize the many promises of their IP telephony systems by simplifying user interaction, reducing user training, and enhancing organizational communications. Voice Office enables businesses to extend the capabilities of their IP telephones beyond voice communications, leveraging these investments for more than network and administrative cost-savings to increase workforce productivity. It enables users to page through the IP telephone system, play voicemail as easily as a CD, and dial by clicking on telephone numbers in e-mail or Web applications. Organizations can eliminate paper directories and redeploy attendants.
All Voice Office applications are accessible from the screens and speakers of each IP telephone:
- Citrix(R) Visual Voicemail – provides visual representation of voice messages with the ability to select the most important ones to review, without having to listen to each message in a time-consuming, serial manner. During message playback, the user can play, pause, forward, reply, and rewind using labeled soft keys rather than having to remember cryptic control codes.
- Citrix(R) Express Directory – an LDAP-based directory with high-speed ability to update in real-time. This new directory user interface can reduce the time to look-up and dial-in by up to 75 percent compared to current solutions.
- Citrix(R) Zone Paging – enables authorized users to reliably page groups of IP telephones located in specific zones, without the expense of installing a costly paging system.
- Citrix(R) Broadcast Server – delivers priority messages such as emergency announcements, IT service updates, and weather alerts in the form of text, graphics and audio to IP telephones. The Broadcast Server also enables an organization to use the screens of its IP telephones to display a rotating set of messages, such as advertisements, employee billboards, and management billboards.
“We selected Citrix’s Application Gateway as it enables us to quickly deploy applications and take advantage of the features of our new Cisco IP telephones,” said Peggy Storey-Inkster, chief information officer at Canada-based Sault College. Application Gateway’s Broadcast Alerts and Zone Paging applications will help us provide up-to-date information and alerts campus-wide, whether it is for emergency preparedness or weather alerts, improving safety and security of our students and employees.”
“Citrix Voice Office represents a new breed of converged applications that is easy to configure and use, and is designed to increase user productivity while eliminating the complexity which has inhibited the widespread adoption of certain IP telephony capabilities,” said Gordon Payne, vice president of marketing, for Citrix. “Organizations can finally take advantage of their investments in IP telephony infrastructure to extend the power of on-demand access to all forms of voice and data services through a single, unified view to deliver the best voice access experience.”
