Citrix Has Authorization to Buy back $200 Million of its Stock!

(Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that its board of directors has authorized the company to repurchase up to an additional $200 million of Citrix common stock. As of December 31, 2005, the company had $67 million in remaining authorization from previously approved plans. Citrix said it plans to buy shares on the open market from time to time, depending on market conditions.

Citrix to Outsource Development to India!
Citrix has recently announced it will use its Indian development offices to drive the development of its future products. This is sort of interesting. I did not know Citrix had a dev team in India and at the same time I wonder why they are doing this? Is it to cut costs? In they know but I hope this will help speed out the turnaround time for Presentation Server releases and they rest of Citrix ever growing offerings. When I started at Citrix, many years ago, they had just MetaFrame. Today, they have more solutions than I can keep straight…

If you run a large deployment of Citrix servers and or are just looking for better scalability then you will want to take a peak at Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 for the 64Bit Version of windows Server 2003. I attended the Presentation Server 4.0 64bit version session at iForum and my big take away is that Citrix is recommending we scale up and not out.

Citrix Announces “Constellation” and Attempts to Redefine an Industry!
At this year’s iForum, Citrix announced a new series of technologies they call, “Constellation” that they feel will continue to add value to Microsoft Terminal Services, Longhorn release... The different technologies that make up “constellation” are quite intriguing. One is a new load balancing solution that will be a more intelligent solution that Citrix says will be smart enough to know what the end-user wants and in return will give them the best performance possible… To sum it up, it is smart… I can’t wait to see how this works…
