Understanding Citrix Universal Print Server (UPS)
I have lately dropped here and there comments about Citrix Universal Printer Server code name "Phaser" and actually some Citrix guys make fun of me because I'm so persistent with that topic since 2009! Why 2009? Well at iForum 2009 in Las Vegas, Citrix developer Gary showed the first bits (really just some command line exe) of project Phaser. Since then I keep telling Citrix to get it out of the door every time I have a chance. Now it seems it will finally happen after three years!

Ten printing rules with Citrix XenApp
Printing has always been an issue with XenApp or the Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and still is. Therefore I have now written my "ten printing rules with Citrix XenApp" where parts of it apply also to RDS. Also settings are for XenApp 6.0 and Server 2008 R2 but you will find most of the settings with previous versions as well.

Citrix Talks Printing - Please, Please Make Printing Better...
At Synergy 2010 Citrix announced Project Nitro. Project Nitro is a group of projects for the next generation of Citrix HDX technologies focused on increased performance and efficiency. Project Laser is the printing aspect of this effort and has now been released for XenApp 6. It is posted on the MyCitrix download site as the XenApp 6 printing optimization pack. While it will eventually be built into XenApp, it is already built into the upcoming release of XenDesktop 5.

Citrix Releases Free Printer Driver Utility - "Print Detective"
Citrix support just posted a new utility to Citrix's knowledgebase called, "Print Detective". Print Detective is an information-gathering utility that can be used for troubleshooting problems related to print drivers. It enumerates all drivers from the specified 32-bit Windows computer, including driver-specific information. It can also be used to delete specified print drivers. It also offers logging capabilities and provides a Command Line Interface (CLI).
