Learning to Recover from a Crashed Citrix Access Data Store
When a Citrix Farm is created, by default, the data store is created on the first server using an Access database. From this article you will learn how to backup an Access data store and how to recover from the loss of an Access data store. This is possible ONLY if you have a backup of the data store. If there is no backup of the data store, the only way to recover is to rebuild the Farm from scratch.

Learning to Add a New Citrix XenApp Server to a Farm
Eventually every Citrix Administrator needs to add an additional server or servers to their farm. Adding additional servers to the farm, installing applications to them and then adding the new servers to the published applications allows XenApp to provide automatic load balancing of users of those applications across servers. XenApp uses the concept of Least Busy Server to determine which server will launch the application requested by the user.

Citrix CTO Simon Crosby Issues "Open Challenge" to VMware CTO Stephen Herrod to Stop the Bad Science
One thing I admire is a person willing to express their opinion and stand behind their product. The 1st place price for this type of behavior must go to Citrix's CTO Simon Crosby who gives no quarter to those who try to position him and/or his products in any way other than how Simon sees it. That being said, this time Simon has responded to a VMware post claiming ESX Server performs better than Citrix's XenServer running Citrix XenApp workloads.

The amazing Warren Simondson of Ctrl-Alt-Del IT Consultancy just released another free Citrix / Terminal Services utility called TSSelfServReset. TSSelfServReset is a standalone Windows GUI tool designed to allow users within a domain, the ability to manage their own Terminal Services/ Citrix sessions from a single location. This application is designed to enable a user to logoff or reset any TS/ Citrix Session that belongs to them in the specified domain. Additionally, processes within those sessions can be terminated should they be hung or simply not required.

How to Prevent Users from Changing Permissions on File Servers
On file servers in corporate environments one typically does not want users to change permissions, even on their own files. It might seem that it would be sufficient to simply grant change permissions instead of full control, but unfortunately that is not the case. The problem is that whenever a new file gets created, the user creating the file will be its owner. And owners can always change permissions, regardless of the contents of the DACL.

Gourami Releases Free "Citrix Farm Cleaner" Utility
Cleaning up your Citrix server can be a time consuming task. Login on to every individual server takes a large amount of time. This is why Gourami created ‘Farm Cleaner', you first make a selection of the Citrix server to be cleaned. You proceed to clean the profile folder (‘documents and settings'), the printer spool folder, and the temp folder. Once this is done you get an overview of the actions taken.

Applications leave their marks in the file system and the registry to save user specific settings. As a consequence, a profile may grow larger and larger over time.
