Citrix Xen on HP, VMware Fixes Vulnerabilities, PCI Compliance on Virtual Servers, User Profiles

With the ever increasing number of podcasts these days it is tough to find ones that are on target for what you want to hear or need to know.  Of course DABCC has featured quite a few but Michael Domingo's Redmond Radio (from Redmond Mag) podcast also has some notable content in it this week for the Citrix and VMware community.

Four notable stories that you'll hear on his podcast from today (03/25/08):

• Citrix plans to offer an integrated server virtualization solution called Citrix XenServer HP Select Edition.  DABCC has also covered this here.

• VMware has updated several of its solutions for a security vulnerability fix. The vulnerability allowed users of some VMware products to escape virtualized environments and enter the host systems with full privileges.

• Grocery Chain Data Breach Extends Security Debate. PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance is a critical security component that should not be overlooked when going virtual. A data security breach within Massachusetts grocery chain Hannaford Bros. on Monday not only led to 1,800 known cases of fraud but is also serving as debate fodder in the ongoing argument about data ownership and Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance. If your servers are storing payment card information on them you should ensure the environment is secure with a solution like Reflex VSA (Virtual Security Appliance) from Reflex Security.

• And finally, Michael interviewed yours truly regarding Entrigue's Citrix/VMware friendly user profile management solution Script Start. We discussed both the free Open Source version and the Professional version which we just launched last week.
