Backup and Agile Adaptability
There are basically two types of backup: backup that forces you to adapt and backup that adapts to you.(1) Unitrends offers backup that adapts to you. That means regardless of whether you have virtual-, physical-, or cloud-based environments – whether you have server-based DAS (Direct Attached Storage), NAS, SAN, VMware vSphere 5.1, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 with Hyper-V, Oracle, SharePoint, Exchange, SQL, Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, etc.), Mac OS, Solaris, AIX, iSeries, and so on – we adapt to it.
Contrast that to backup software that only supports virtual environments – or only supports Windows – or some other niche set of IT environments. Vendors who do this expect that you’ll either change your environment so that you can use their backup on whatever they support, or that you’ll use multiple backup solutions. Of course, the problem with multiple backup solutions is that the user ends up having to not only learn completely different products but also has to manage and maintain multiple backup solutions. It’s not only a big capital expenditure (multiple backup servers) but an even larger operational expenditure.
