Newest version of leading configuration control and file integrity monitoring solution first to offer increased visibility for virtual data center security & compliance Tripwire, announced the newest version of its flagship product, Tripwire® Enterprise 7.5V, is available to customers. Tripwire Enterprise 7.5V is designed explicitly to offer greater visibility into virtual environments and offers increased policy support including support for ESX hardening guidelines, NERC and DISA STIG, while continuing to offer complete configuration control across the entire IT environment, including physical infrastructure.
Tripwire Enterprise 7.5V helps IT achieve and maintain a secure and compliant state with:
- Automatic discovery of VMware Virtual Infrastructure. Tripwire Enterprise 7.5V integrates and synchronizes with VMware vCenter to automatically discover and synchronize inventory information into Tripwire Enterprise. It also maintains inventory of virtual infrastructure objects - such as datacenters, folders, clusters, ESX hypervisors, vSwitches, resource pools, and VM containers - to maintain visibility across the entire VMware infrastructure.
- Dynamic Virtual Infrastructure control that continuously monitors and detects deviations from the environment's trusted state. When maintained ESX hypervisors, vSwitches and VM containers are added, modified or deleted from the environment; Tripwire Enterprise 7.5V identifies these changes and alerts IT staff on them immediately to enable corrective action.
- New configuration assessment policies and reports including VMware Infrastructure 3 Hardening Guides for ESX 3.5 (v2), ESXi, vSwitches, VM Containers, and the DISA STIG for VMware ESX. Tripwire Enterprise 7.5V also includes NERC CIP policy templates, Microsoft Security Guide policies, as well as enhancements to Tripwire Enterprise's existing, market-leading CIS, NIST and ISO 27001 policies. Tripwire's reporting capabilities far exceed those of other solutions in terms of both breadth and depth, offering nearly 50 out-of-the-box reports that can be easily streamlined and customized to meet each organization's compliance needs, and certifying compliance with more security standards than any comparable tool in the marketplace. New out-of-the-box reports include unmonitored node reports, which provide visibility and proof that hypervisors, VMs and their physical counterparts are configured securely and are compliant. The composite change report simplifies how change is reported, viewed and investigated by providing visibility of authorized versus unauthorized changes, by combining multiple change elements.
- Role-based home pages which are fully customizable and can be assigned to specific roles and users, providing security and compliance information at a moment's notice.
- Enhanced Virtual Infrastructure support across heterogenous IT environments. Within the Tripwire Enterprise for VMware ESX node, Tripwire Enterprise 7.5V adds node types for vSwitches, strengthening the visibility of the virtual network infrastructure, and links monitored workloads running on VMs within the VI hierarchy, providing users with information on configuration changes across the virtual infrastructure. In addition, Tripwire has committed to supporting Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 and Microsoft Hyper-V.
"Tripwire is the only vendor that can manage both virtual and physical environments, where many new solutions that focus only on virtual environments are incomplete, point solutions," said Dan Schoenbaum, Tripwire's senior vice president of marketing and corporate development. "Our deep support for VMWare was built through a close relationship and technical collaboration -- and we provide more capability than anyone in the market.."
Tripwire Enterprise 7.5V is available immediately for download.
