Popular cloud storage service Box has not had many nice things to say about Microsoft or its popular Sharepoint platform. However, it seems Box likes the company enough to add support for Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7. The competition in the cloud storage space is enormous. If Box wants to come out on top, the company has to make its solution available on as many platforms as possible. It seems Windows Phone 7 is part of that equation.
Box’s solution has long been touted as a viable and easier to use alternative to SharePoint, Microsoft’s enterprise collaboration software. Box is used by companies such as DirecTV, LinkedIn and EMC, but more vendors are entering the cloud storage space, which means Box has to continue innovate and target the widest user base possible if it wants to excel. Betting that Microsoft’s mobile user base will expand is likely a safe bet.
