AppStream Launches New Editions of its Award-Winning Application Streaming Technology
Palo Alto, Calif. July 31, 2007 — AppStream, Inc., a leader in on-demand application deployment and management, announced today version 5.2.2 of its award-winning and patented streaming technology. Available immediately, AppStream 5.2.2 comes in two versions, AppStream 5.2.2 Enterprise edition and AppStream 5.2.2 SaaS edition.
The 5.2.2 SaaS edition (click here) allows software vendors to quickly convert any existing Windows® application to an Internet based services model without modifying the application, thereby getting the software to users in days versus months and providing many of the benefits of web-native applications.
“Companies like AppStream that have a history and core competency in streaming technology are enabling some dramatic changes in the way software is delivered. The two new editions are great examples of mature, robust streaming technology, in action and put to good use. Software companies like Citrix and Microsoft have even recently embraced their own versions of streaming technology to deliver their software on-demand. It won’t be long before the vision of on-demand is a reality, in large part, thanks to streaming,” says Andi Mann, senior analyst, enterprise management associates.
“Application streaming, such as in AppStream 5.2.2 technology, combined with Intel® vPro™ and Intel® Centrino® Pro processor technology shows great promise in managing applications and desktop PCs,” said Dr. Charles Brown, manager, Intel SaaS Program Digital Enterprise Group. “This combination of technologies will help Intel customers quickly deploy notebook and desktop PCs, and reach their manageability objectives.”
